David Williams

DAVID WILLIAMS — David Williams was born in Washington, DC and raised in Virginia. He began art classes at age 10 in a local craft shop where he was introduced to drawing and painting. Here too was his first introduction to plein air. He has studied at Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Museum Studio School and the Richmond Visual Arts Center. He has also participated in workshops with California artists "Sunny" Apinchapong-Yang and colorist Camille Przewodek.

David Williams believes it's the job of an artist to uncover their feelings for a subject and to convey these feelings within their work. In starting a painting , he first builds a mental image of the finished work by inquiring within himself about the first visual and emotional response to a subject.

Williams lives with artist Sydney Hall and their cats Jasper Johns and Frida Kahlo.
