Terrill Waldman
TERRILL WALDMAN — Since earning her B.F.A. in glass, color photography, and sculputure, artist Terrill Waldman has worked and experimented chiefly with hand blown glass. Her current focus is on clean-lined vessels. Waldman keeps her forms simple while exploring the expressive nature of color. She strives for shades that startle, that evoke sensations and a sense of association from the viewer. ''I believe in a common language of colors, an affinity to emotion. Color engages us, reflects ideas or inspires them. Color is never a static or flat idea.''
''Glass is a terrifically seductive material. Its fluid quality, the saturation of color and the way it transmits light, all fascinate me with the possibilities.''
" Basicly I love blowing glass, and I love color, my work is almost entirely about my enjoyment of process, blowing glass is very fluid, and I love that. But I also love "constructing" glass parts while they are still hot and moving. I build larger peices and color combinations out of seperate bubbles, this explains the strong clean bands of color in my work. I like the crisp linear quality, and also that colors can appear very different depending on compositons." — Terrill Waldman
