Russ Taylor
RUSS TAYLOR — Russ was self employed in the field of graphic design & Illustration for the 20 years following graduation from the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota Florida. In that time he did creative work for a wide variety of clients which provided the foundation for his fine art career. He began exhibiting his paintings at outdoor art festivals in 2000. A year later he left the graphics business for good to pursue his career as a fulltime painter. He is married to artist, Lee Claughton Taylor. They live in Indialantic, Florida (Melbourne beachside) with their three dogs, Jake, Roscoe, and Ellie.
Russ Taylor’s acrylic paintings combine strong compositions, vibrant color and textured surfaces. His style is both sharp and rough edged, modern and primitive. This contrast infuses his work with an energy that draws the viewer in.
Russ says he enjoys creating art that is happy and uplifting. “I like creating images that reflect my appreciation for a subject, to bring to life something from my imagination or some place I’ve been, and bend it and reshape it to fit my vision.” His love of music, especially Blues and Jazz is reflected in many of his paintings He also frequently expresses his sense of humor through his work.
Russ Taylor's work is in many private collections around the country. He has won awards from some prestigious art festivals and had his work featured on posters and magazines.
