MAGGIE STIEFVATER — Maggie Stiefvater is an award-winning landscape and equestrian artist located in Richmond, Virginia.
In her words: I am an artist, a writer, and a musician. I play Irish harp, guitar, tin whistle, and piano and listen to everything I can get my hands on.
I love all things ancient and romantic and epic and as such majored in early British history in college. Perhaps that explains my favorite authors, as well: C. S. Lewis, Diana Wynne Jones, J.R.R. Tolkien, Susan Cooper, and J. K. Rowlands (need I even bother including her? Everybody in the world has read her books!)
I'm a die-hard horse enthusiast, dog lover, Anglophile, Celtophile, idealist, bad comedian, and I doubt that I will ever get myself entirely out of 14th century history. This is me. — Maggie Stiefvater
THE RICHMOND SERIES - This is a series of original acrylic paintings down on deep gallery-wrapped canvases. In each of the paintings, Stiefvater portrays a little bit of ordinary Richmond life seen under the brilliance of Virginia summer sun. These five "Cary Street" paintings mark the beginning of the series; as she proceeds through the series the seasons and time of day will advance as well. The final paintings of the series will show Richmond in a winter's night.
The Richmond Series by Maggie Stiefvater is available exclusively through Chasen Galleries, Cary Street, Richmond.
