RICHARD RIVERIN —Richard Riverin was born in Quebec City, in 1942. His passion for French Impressionism is evident in his paintings. His fresh approach to color harmony and patterned brush stroke bring traditional still life, portraiture and landscape to the modern world. The contemplative aspect of his subject matter accomplishes the higher purpose of artwork—to connect us to human notions, pursuits and experiences.
Riverin’s classic composition theory is enlivened with thick, rich paint that Riverin invented himself. Having graduated from Sherbrooke University with a BS degree in Chemistry, Riverin worked for ten years formulating specialty coatings. He began to manufacture his product, but was more inspired to pursue his passion for artwork. He combined his set of knowledge, skill and talent to develop slick paint that he generously applies to the canvas. Juicy reds and sparkling golds and greens, with smoky blue grays each have their place in Riverin’s artworks.
Richard Riverin’s paintings are widely collected. He has had numerous solo and group showings in Montreal, Palm Beach, Naples, Washington, Jacksonville, Greensboro and New York. He was one of the bestsellers at ArtExpo New York. A true Renaissance man, Richard Riverin is also a writer and the author.
