Colin Poole
COLIN POOLE — Colin Poole is a painter and a sculptor. His work is incredibly diverse, ranging from high detail realism to more painterly and impressionistic. He paints largely oils and most of his sculpture is figurative and cast in bronze.
Colin Poole does a lot of his painting outside on location, called ‘plein air’ painting. These images are done all in one sitting ‘alla prima’ at locations throughout the world, such as Greece, Italy, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Paris, Santa Fe, Taos, and California. The experience of traveling; absorbing a new setting, culture, scenery and quality of light are a great inspiration to the artist. These paintings are done quickly and all at once by necessity-- each captures a particular moment in time and the light changes rapidly.
You will also see in the portfolio a style Colin Poole calls “high energy realism”, figurative work, and sculpture. Colin’s diversity is one of his greatest strengths. He has developed incredibly strong technique in a variety of media and styles, which allows him to manifest his numerous and varied creative visions with great success.
