Erich Paulsen

ERICH PAULSEN — Erich Paulsen was born in 1932 in the small town of Treuenbrietzen, just outside Berlin. He spent his early childhood in the region called "Mark Brandenburg."

Erich Paulsen's family moved west after the war, in search for safety. It was Hamburg , where the aspiring young artist attended the Master-Class for painting (Meisterschule der Malerei) from which he graduated with honors. With growing success he could afford studying-trips throughout Europe... Italy, France , Spain to name just a few.

The themes of Erich Paulsen's paintings are mostly landscapes. The raw beauty of the River landscapes along Weser and Elbe River and around his home in Lower Saxony have always fascinated him. Port scenes are among his favorite subjects. All this, together with his very personal feeling for colors and the bold palette-knife techniques so typical for him, have made Erich Paulsen's paintings cherished collectors pieces in many countries throughout the world.
