Kae Knight
KAE KNIGHT — Kae Knight is a west-coast oil painter and is the originator of the Citrus Jazz series. This group of award-winning paintings celebrates the jazz music she loves and combines it with lush and inventive compositions of citrus fruit. Influenced by Japanese Ukiyo-e artists such as Hiroshige and Hokusai, Knight creates unusual blends of Eastern and Western perceptions about space and perspective.
In Knight’s paintings, Citrus is the object, Jazz is the subject.
The famous painter David Hockney said, “Artists are afraid of beauty, physicists embrace it.” Weary of all of the black irony found in contemporary art, Knight went in the opposite direction. Ms. Knight embraces beauty with a palette of saturated color that makes her paintings fairly glow on the wall. Knight excels at creating light with color.
